Here we are, one-third of the way through the challenge. So many lessons learned and so many yet to learn. :)
I picture this woodland sprite as a Pied Piper of sorts, leading his merry band of woodland creatures -- all able to speak, sing, and dance, of course -- through the autumn leaves, bringing enjoyment to all.

I love flowers -- the more the better! We saw beautiful gardens of poppies and other wildflowers in Vancouver. I have attempted the same look of a wild English garden in my own yard with little luck. Turns out that birds don't know (or care about) the difference between seeds in the birdfeeder and seeds in a garden. That's okay, I like birds, too, and a bird's gotta eat. :)
Fierce and fearless, traits fairies embody. These characteristics are also evident in even the smallest of patients facing life-threatening health issues. They and their families are backed into a corner and come out fighting. These folks may never ask, but all can benefit from the support of family, friends, acquaintances. What we might think is a simple smile may be a lifeline to someone fighting a battle we know nothing about. We have a chance every moment of every day to bring magic to someone's life. We can hold a door, compliment a stranger, or offer a friendly greeting. It costs us nothing and may mean the world to the recipient. Now, go out there and be magical!! This painting is dedicated to a fierce, fearless fairy and her family. I hope that if they see it, it will brighten their day if even for a moment. :)
Cutting it close tonight -- WHEW!! Pesky day job! ;) Not really, it's a great job. Sometimes it demands a bit more of my time than others and this happens to be one of those times. As a matter of fact, there are a few things left on the to-do list before I can call it a night, so here is today's painting. Enjoy!
I had so much fun drawing this one! I love bright colors and as I painted yesterday, I was listening to a class on drawing monsters. I often listen to classes online while I draw or paint. I will definitely need to play them again and actually WATCH what is being taught. Surprisingly enough, I do get a lot out of just listening to what the artists and instructors have to say and I enjoy having the company. :)
I really hope you notice that he's going for the cheese. Sirius Black was playing in my mind as I posted, "I was going for the rat..." Rosalie's day is getting better -- even though her hair isn't. :) These scenes really have nothing to do with her story as it is written, though they could show up in a sequel. I see big things happening in Rosalie's future!
Meet Rosalie! She is the star of her very own story, which will be worked into a book dummy to be critiqued in October. She has made her appearance today to start working on her look. As you can probably tell by her hair, Rosalie's day did not have the best start. Stay tuned to find out how everything works out! :)
Mr. Mousey has found a feast! It's a heavy load, but he's willing to bear the burden. Care to join the party?
One quarter of the way through! I'm pretty excited that I've not needed to postpone yet. I've made a point of allowing time each day to get my painting done and actually look at it as a treat, a break from "real" life. :)
I love flowers and I hope you enjoy this little garden and it brightens your day. Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush, Sunflowers... and cows? Sure doesn't sound like the perfect verse for a Julie Andrews song, but these ARE some of my favorite things. Spring in Texas is also a favorite. The fields of wildflowers, the cool breezes across wide open spaces. It's really hard to beat.
