Sunset in the mountains -- it's hard to beat the beauty. It's also hard to recreate. :)
My plan this evening was to choose a fairly simple, straight-forward subject. The time constraints of my day job, which truth be told, often has me working way past daylight and sometimes until the wee hours of the morning, led me to this decision.
However, what appears to be a few solid stripes on a page is in reality a bit more complicated. The shapes are not flat blocks of color, but require shading and nuance. I could have (and would have) spent hours longer getting it just so. I am fairly happy with the result, though I often post these paintings and then see things I'd like to add or change. :)
I think having the condensed schedule is a good thing! I'm learning so much and it's happening in a limited timeframe. There are very short deadlines and I haven't missed one yet!
