Today's prompt: Underwater
You might think, given my previously disclosed obsession, that The Little Mermaid would have been my obvious choice. However, I decided to go with one of my own underwater creatures AND stick with a more strict interpretation of "ink." Just so you know, Sebastian singing "Under the Sea" is still playing in my head. :)

Today's prompt: Poison
I probably used too much color on this one to be true to the spirit of the challenge, but it IS all ink. I suppose I could have rendered it in all black and white, though I'm not sure it would have had the same impact. Yes, it's another W.D. reference -- I told you I was a fan! :) Today's prompt: Divided.
Most of you know that I am Disney obsessed and this is the first of what could turn into many tributes over the next month. I hope to do W.D. justice and maybe by the end, you will be at least a little enamored of Disney as well. Wow! One hundred days of watercolor completed on time and under budget (that last part wasn't really all that difficult since there was no budget)! I promised that stack of plain white paper would be vanquished and I've kept that promise.
There were many challenges within this challenge, but I persevered. There were weddings, babies (on the way and not mine), computer problems, unfamiliar "equipment," vacations, and work commitments. There were joys and sorrows. There were days when the very last thing I wanted to do was to paint a cute, cheery picture. But in spite of those feelings -- or maybe because of them -- I did just that. I learned SO much over the course of this challenge, about myself and about watercolor. Things I Learned About Watercolor: - Though it can be challenging, watercolor is not out to get me. - The paper presents more limitations than the paint. - Building washes is not impossible, it just takes time and patience. - Watercolor cannot and should not be tamed. One should embrace watercolor with all of its quirks and idiosyncrasies. - The amount of water in the brush is just as important as the amount of paint. Things I Learned About Myself (which everyone around me probably already knew): - I have more patience than I thought. - I enjoy a challenge. - I'm stubborn -- no, really, I am. - When I set a goal for myself, it takes much to dissuade me. - I enjoy working with watercolor more than I thought I would and I will continue to practice. This challenge has come to an end, but it will not be my last. In fact, my next adventure begins in just FIVE DAYS when I join in on Inktober. For those unfamiliar, Inktober was started in 2009 by an amazing artist named Jake Parker (Google him, I promise you'll thank me). The challenge is to create an ink-only picture each day in October, post and hashtag it on social media. For now, I plan to rest and regroup -- and get to bed before midnight! Thank you all for coming along with me. I hope you continue to follow my adventure, or better yet, begin one of your own! Day 100 -- WOOT!!! Honestly, it really doesn't seem like it could be that long ago that this challenge started. Tomorrow I will post my thoughts about the whole experience. Tonight I will revel in the glow of a challenge met. Thanks for coming along on the adventure!
Leaving on a jet plane. . . Who needs a plane when you have your own wings? This bold, little traveling man was inspired by an actual bat who decided to take a trip to a lovely hotel in Kentucky. He arrived without a reservation and decided to camp out in the courtyard. I'm sure he was made welcome, is now well rested, and will soon be back to his grand adventure.
Because who doesn't want a pink-frosted cupcake? Only buttercream, that whipped stuff will never do!
More characters plucked from my imagination. Sometimes I wonder what's going on in there and what all these creatures are doing when they're not showing up in my sketches. Do they just hang out in some random corner of my brain awaiting their turn? I'm certainly thankful that they do appear -- they certainly keep me entertained!
